During a routine inspection

Before people received any care or treatment they were asked for their consent and the provider acted in accordance with their wishes.

Where people did not have the capacity to consent, the provider acted in accordance with legal requirements.

Care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare.

People's health, safety and welfare was protected when more than one provider was involved in their care and treatment, or when they moved between different services. This was because the provider worked in co-operation with others.

There was an effective complaints system available.

People were protected against the risks associated with medicines because the provider had appropriate arrangements in place to manage medicines.

During a themed inspection looking at Domiciliary Care Services

As part of this review, we visited four people in their own homes and spoke with them, and their relatives, about their experiences of the support they had received from this service. We spoke over the telephone with another two people who were using the service.

People we spoke with were positive about the care and support they received. Comments included, 'I like it' and 'It's brilliant care, it's fine'.

Some people were unable to communicate with us because of their disabilities. We spoke with their relatives and their comments included, 'It's an ideal service. I know she is comfortable with her carers. She's used to them, they're trained' and 'It's excellent, I have no complaints at all, I can't fault the carers'.

People, and relatives on their behalf, told us they felt comfortable and safe with their care workers. People and relatives also told us they would feel comfortable speaking to the manager about any issues which may arise.
