During a routine inspection

On the day of the inspection there were ten people using the service at the home. Because of cognitive and communication challenges we were only able to speak to two of them. However we were able to observe people who used this service and their interaction with staff.

We observed that people who used this service were treated with respect and dignity. We saw evidence that people were able to have an input into all areas of their daily lives and that their independence was respected.

We looked at care plans and saw that people had good access to associated professionals and that risk assessments and action plans were comprehensive and appropriate.

People that we spoke to and observation showed us that people felt safe at this home. Staff were appropriately trained in all areas of safeguarding.

Staff that we spoke with were happy with the support provided by the management team. Records that we read confirmed that supervision and appraisals were appropriate to ensure the delivery of an effective and safe service.

We found that policies and procedures were comprehensive and regularly reviewed.

Health and safety records showed us that all areas of risk had been assessed and that they were regularly reviewed.

During a routine inspection

People looked cared for and relaxed throughout our visit.

People who use services appeared confident in their environment and at ease with staff.

People were seen taking part in the preparations for the evening meal. Staff were encouraging and informative and people seemed to enjoy the process.

The home was clean, warm and fully accessible to people with a physical disability. Furniture was of a good standard, bedrooms had been personalised and it had a homely feel.
