During a routine inspection

We spoke with four people using the service, one relative and three members of staff to get their views and to find out about the quality of services provided to people who use the service.

People told us they were happy with the care and support they received. Staff interactions we observed were positive, caring and professional. Staff had a good understanding of people’s needs and how best to support them. A relative told us “I think the service is great, they have been absolutely brilliant”.

One person told us the staff had supported them with their holiday arrangements.

We saw that people were involved in making decisions about the care and treatment they received.

The provider had in place appropriate arrangements for medicines management.

Staff received training and support to make sure they were competent and skilled to care for people.

The provider had systems in place to monitor the quality of services provided.

During a routine inspection

We looked at the care records of two people, spoke with three members of staff and spoke with two people who use the service. Two people who use the service we spoke to spoke highly of the staff and the care. One person told us" it’s alright here, I am well looked after, there is plenty for me to do, i am never bored and have been on holiday". Another person told us “I like the staff, they are good with me and know what to do".

We found looking at people’s care records that they were involved in their care and also the running of the service. Each person had relevant care and risk assessments to ensure their care needs were being met and staff knew how to support people. All the care plans we looked at were person centred which meant that people were able to understand the care that was being delivered. We also found there was sufficient qualified and skilled staff on duty to meet people's needs.

We found that people were involved in the cleaning of the home as part of their care planning, but the service provided a member of staff three days a week to support the cleaning in the home to reduce the risk of the spread of infections.

We looked at how the service manages complaints. We found the home had a policy and provided information to people in an accessible format should they want to complain about any aspect of the service. People were able to tell us they knew how to make a complaint if they felt they wanted to.
