During a routine inspection
The person we spoke with told us they thought their needs were met at the service. They said that their privacy was respected and staff respected their personal preferences. They said staff encouraged them to be as independent as possible and told us, 'Staff let me do things for myself.' The person told us that staff take them out shopping occasionally and they described how they liked to spend their day.
The person told us that they felt safe living at the service. They confirmed that staff showed them respect and treated them well. Although this person told us they felt safe and treated well we found a lack of clear procedures to ensure that people's safety and rights were maintained.
The person we spoke with said that they felt there were normally sufficient staff to meet their needs. They said they were cared for properly, by staff, and that they thought staff were competent at their job. Although this person told us that staff were competent we found that staff needed further training in several areas so as to reduce risk to people.
The person thought the quality of the service they received was 'good.' They told us, 'I've completed a [satisfaction] survey'I'm happy here.' Although this person told us they had a positive view of the service we found that limitations in the service's quality monitoring system may put people at risk.
