During a routine inspection
The person we spoke with told us they felt safe at the service. They told us 'staff are ok.' This person also told us staff respected their privacy; they stated 'staff knock on my bedroom door before entering.' They also told us staff supported them to go out.
We observed staff interaction with a person who was at the service. Staff were polite and friendly towards this person.
We spoke with two staff, who told us they felt supported. They told us the manager was contactable if she was not at the service.
We spoke with two relatives of people who use the service, they raised no concerns about the service. Families told us they were happy with the care and support provided to their relatives. Comments included 'I am happy with the support received."
There were gaps in staff training which meant that staff may not be working to current practice to ensure people's needs were met in a safe way.
Peoples support plans showed that their capacity had not been assessed. This meant that not everyone's level of understanding in making day to day decisions and the support they needed to make those decisions was clearly recorded.
The provider did not have suitable arrangements in place on keeping people safe from inappropriate restraint.
