During a routine inspection

We visited three locations owned by Readlee Limited. These locations were Lees House, Alexandra House and The Coach House. At the time of our visits The Coach House was not occupied and therefore we have completed reports on Lees House and Alexandra House only. The Coach House had recently suffered flooding due to a leaking pipe, and one person who had lived there at the time of the flood had moved to Alexandra House. We saw that work to repair and redecorate the property was nearing completion at the time of this review and we heard that people may move back into the property in the near future. A review of The Coach House will be completed when we are notified by the providers that the house is occupied again.

Our visits took place over two days. We talked to people living in both Lees House and Alexandra House. Our conversations varied in length and detail ' some were willing to talk to us at length while other conversations were shorter. We also talked to six permanently employed members of staff, most of whom had worked in more than one of the locations.

The people cared for by Readlee Limited at the time of this review had complex mental illnesses. The providers have told us they plan to make some changes to the services they provide and are considering offering accommodation for people with learning disabilities in one of the houses, following agreement with people currently living there. We talked to two people living in the homes about this and we were satisfied they had been consulted and alternative accommodation discussed with them.

One person we met required support from two members of staff at all times of the day and night. They had received input from various professionals, and had good support and contact with their family. Their needs were complex and the service had been working closely with other professionals to try to provide suitable support to keep them and the people around them safe. Their care plan had been written by the providers at the time of their admission and some areas of the plans were incorrect or out of date. Our conversation with the person was brief, but during our discussion the person indicated they were generally happy with the care and support they have received.

We also talked to one person who previously lived in two of the locations before moving to more independent accommodation. They still received support from Readlee in their own home. The provider has recently applied to register for the regulated activity of personal care to ensure they comply with current legislation relating to supporting people who require personal care in their own homes.
