During a routine inspection

When asked if staff provide the care people need, service user comments included; 'Oh definitely', 'they are very good' and 'Yes, yes'. One relative told us that 'nothing is too much trouble' and another relative said that her mother had told her that she feels well cared for and 'safe'.

Service users and their relatives gave us positive feedback about the skills and abilities of staff. Comments included; 'They are brilliant. I can't thank them enough,' 'nothing is too much trouble,' 'all the staff are very helpful.' And 'there are some very good people here.'

As well as arranging group activities the activities organiser spends time with individuals in their bedroom. This may include reading, talking or providing a manicure. The service users we spoke to value this personal attention.

Those we spoke to were satisfied with the meals provided at the home. One service user told us; 'The food is very good and I am fussy. We get a choice'. Another person, who had not been well and had a poor appetite, told us that the cook had been spending time with her encouraging her to try different foods.

All the service users we spoke to were happy with the accommodation provided. We saw that people are able to bring their personal possessions with them when they move into the home. One person told us: 'I am very happy here, I like my room. I have everything I need'.

We asked service users and relatives if they could raise any issues, concerns or suggestions. All those asked confirmed that staff and the manager were approachable and that they felt confident that any concerns or suggestions would be responded to.
