CQC register Alton Manor Care Home - Portsmouth to carry out the following legally regulated services here:

Accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care

  • Mr Vikram Shah is responsible for these services.
  • Miss Emma Mary Ellis is the registered manager for these services at this location.
Condition of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity

1. Within two weeks of this condition coming into effect, the Registered Provider must ensure at Alton Manor Care Home, 8-12 Herbert Road, Southsea, Hampshire, PO4 0QA:

a) Effective audits are undertaken on the risks associated with service user’s needs. These must identify whether a specific risk assessment and/or care plan is needed for the service users need and what control measures are needed to mitigate any risk(s).

b) Effective audits are undertaken to ensure the safe management of medicines, to include the safe storage, stock control, temperature monitoring and PRN medicines.

c) Effective audits are undertaken to ensure staff follow current legislation and guidance to prevent and control the spread of infection.

d) Effective audits are undertaken to ensure service users consent is gained and documented, to include when receiving tests for COVID-19 and regarding restrictive practice. Where there is doubt that service users do not have the mental capacity to consent, a mental capacity assessment must be undertaken, and a best interest decision must be made and documented.

2. Following the completion of implementing the above audits, the Registered Provider must monitor the effectiveness of these by carrying out a review of these on a monthly basis. This must include following up the actions that need to be taken as a result of each audit, the date the actions must be completed by and who is responsible for ensuring this.

3. The Registered Provider must send to the Care Quality Commission (the Commission) a monthly report which confirms the dates on which these audits have taken place. This report must include how the audits have identified the effectiveness of the systems put in place, the actions taken or to be taken as a result of these audits, the date the actions must be completed by and who is responsible for ensuring this. This report must be sent to the Care Quality Commission on the first Monday of each month following these conditions coming into effect.

Terms of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity

The Registered Provider must only accommodate a maximum of 34 service users at Alton Manor Care Home - Portsmouth.

The Registered Provider must not provide nursing care under accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care at Alton Manor Care Home - Portsmouth.
