Brookfield

Date of assessment: 27 and 29 July 2026. Brookfield is a residential care home providing accommodation and personal care to older people, including people living with dementia. Brookfield can accommodate a maximum of 27 people. At the time of our assessment, 17 people were living at the service.
This location operates under a dual registration arrangement with Barchester Healthcare Homes Limited and Scarborough Hall Limited. Both providers hold registration for the location and share responsibility for service delivery under the dual registration arrangement.
At this assessment, we found people received safe, effective and person-centred care. People’s needs and risks were assessed, monitored and reviewed. Staff worked with relatives and health and social care professionals to support continuity of care and respond when people’s needs changed.
Staff treated people with kindness, dignity and respect. They knew people well and supported their individual preferences, routines and interests. One person told us, “I think it’s a very good place. I am quite happy.” People and their relatives were involved in care planning and had opportunities to provide feedback. Managers were approachable and responsive when concerns were raised. The provider maintained links with the local community, which helped people remain connected and take part in activities that were meaningful to them.
There were systems to monitor the quality and safety of the service, including audits, reviews of incidents and feedback. Staff felt supported and able to speak openly with managers. The provider used learning from feedback and events to make improvements and support the ongoing development of the service.

People and their relatives spoke positively about their experience of the service. People told us they felt safe, well cared for and comfortable approaching staff if they had any concerns. Amongst the feedback we received, staff were described as, “Good,” “Excellent,” “Very obliging,” “Really patient” and “responsive.” One person added, “The staff are excellent. They do their best. Its brilliant.”
People were supported to make choices about their care, meals, activities and where they spent their time. Staff encouraged people to maintain their independence and provided assistance when this was needed. People also valued being able to maintain relationships with those important to them. One person told us, “I have family who can visit. They can visit when they want.”
Relatives told us they were kept informed and involved in care planning and reviews. They felt managers were approachable and that concerns would be addressed. One relative said, “They keep me up to date.” Our observations showed staff interacted with people in a calm, respectful and personalised way.
