During a routine inspection

We visited the office and spoke with the registered manager and three members of staff. We later spoke by telephone with the five people who used the service and another three staff.

Most people felt they were able to make their own decisions and choices regarding their day to day care and support. People confirmed that they had given their consent and been involved in discussions about their care, sometimes with a family member, when the service had first started.

Most people said they were generally satisfied with the care and support they received. One person said, “It’s fine, not perfect, but fine”. Another person said, "It’s good, very good”. One person had some issues with the service provided and we agreed to bring this to the attention of the manager. People knew about their support plans or said they had discussed their care and support with staff.

People felt they received safe and coordinated care and support where more than one provider was involved.

People were mostly complimentary about the staff and felt the service generally recruited the right calibre staff to meet their needs. One person said, “I’m very pleased with mine”.

Some people said they had been asked for their views and feedback on the service provided. Most people told us they felt confident that any concerns would be addressed. There were systems in place to monitor the quality of the service.

During a routine inspection

People we spoke to were positive about the service provided. One individual whose parents receive a personal care service told us that they were “a hundred percent satisfied” with the service. They emphasised the caring approach of staff, good communication and consistently good timekeeping in relation to planned support visits.

One individual who receives a personal care service told us that the service was meeting their needs and the needs of their partner/carer. This person emphasised as positive the efficiency of support workers whom they described as “nice people.”

People told us that they feel safe with service staff and that if required they know how and who to complain to

We found that the provider was focussed on delivering respectful and individualised care via person centred care planning and service delivery. Staff we spoke to communicated these values when describing their roles responsibilities and practice. Domiciliary care and agency nursing staff we spoke to told us that they feel valued and supported by service managers.
