During a routine inspection

In this report the name of a registered manager appears who was not in post and not managing the regulatory activities at this location at the time of the inspection. Their name appears because they were still a Registered Manager on our register at the time.

On the day of our inspection we visited four people in their homes and spoke with them about the care and support they received. One person told us the staff were "most helpful". Another person said "they all know what I like" about the staff.

We spoke with two relatives, one of whom told us they were "delighted with the care" provided by the agency. Another relative said "they're very approachable", and added that the manager was always happy to talk with them.

The three members of staff we spoke with had been working at the agency for two years or more and all felt well supported to give good quality care. One member of staff said of the provider "they support us well".

We looked at records relating to people's care and support and saw that people's wishes had been taken into account in planning their care, with the support of family members if they required it. We saw that care was being delivered in a way that promoted people's independence. Care was provided by experienced and appropriately qualified staff and the provider had an effective system in place to identify, assess and manage risks to people's health, safety and welfare.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with three people who received support from the agency. They told us that they were very happy with the service. One said, 'It's jolly good, I've got nothing to worry about at all'. Another told us, 'They're very good, they really are. They're wonderful'.

We spoke with three care workers. They all told us that they had an excellent team. One said, 'The teamwork with the staff is one of the best things about working here'. Another told us, 'I love it, I really enjoy it'.

We spoke with one relative. They told us that the agency had been very understanding about their relative's needs and said, 'I think it's a very good place'.

We found that people had been involved in planning their support and that care was delivered by staff who had received appropriate training.

During a routine inspection

We spoke to four people who use this service by telephone before the site visit. They all confirmed that they are well treated by the manager and by the staff who provide their care. They also confirmed they had given consent to the care and support they receive.

We spoke to three carers during the site visit. They confirmed they had received training, including induction training, so they were able to do the work expected of them. They also confirmed they are well supervised and supported by the manager.

We spoke to the manager. She informed us how she determines the number of staff employed to provide the care required. She also informed us how she reviews and monitors the quality of care provided.

We have also used information given to us by the service in their Provider Compliance Assessment. The assessment is information supplied by the provider that gives their views on how they are compliant with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and the Essential Standards of Quality and Safety.
