Braemar Lodge Residential Care Home is a care home providing personal care and support to older people and people who may be living with dementia. People in care homes receive accommodation and nursing or personal care as a single package under one contractual agreement. Braemar Lodge Residential Care Home is a care home without nursing care. CQC regulates both the premises, and the care provided, and both were looked at during this assessment. Braemar Lodge Residential Care Home can support up to 17 people in an adapted building set over 2 levels with an enclosed garden.
We carried out our on-site assessment on the 24 and 25 April 2025. The assessment was completed to follow up on the last assessment and see if improvements were made.
The provider was previously in breach of the legal regulation in relation to good governance and dignity and respect. Improvements were found at this assessment and the provider was no longer in breach of these regulations.
People's experience of the service

People and relatives were positive about the care they received. One relative said, “The home is very friendly, and I have peace of mind.” People and relatives told us they felt the home was a safe place to live, one person said it was ‘perfect’.
Care plans were person centred and contained the information staff needed to support people safely. There were appropriate levels of staff to provide support to people. People were safeguarded from the risk of abuse and staff had received the appropriate training to give them the skills they needed. People received their medicines safely. There were systems in place to minimise the risk of infection and to learn lessons from accidents and incidents.
People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. Staff treated people as individuals and supported their preferences. People had choice in their care and were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends. Staff responded to people in a timely way.
The registered manager had governance systems in place to monitor the service and made continual improvements to promote positive outcomes for people living there.
