During a routine inspection

During our inspection we spoke to four people who lived at Courtland's. People told us “we are well looked after” and that the staff are “very nice and helpful”.

People told us how they spent their days. All of the people we met appeared to be well dressed and coordinated. This indicated personal preferences were being respected.

We saw that people received food that looked appetising and one person told us that they “had enough to eat and drink”

People invited us into their bedrooms, all of the bedrooms we looked at were individually personalised to varying degrees.

During our inspection people spent time in the lounge and/or in their bedrooms or a combination of different rooms. This indicated people felt at ease in the home and there were no restrictive routines.

We saw evidence that people received medication in a respective manner and the home had a robust system in place for appropriate storage and administration of medication.

We saw that every one who lived at the home had a care plan in place. The care plans documented peoples likes and dislikes however the provider might like to note that the care plans did not always give clear direction about what a persons care needs specifically were, and how staff were directed in meeting their needs.
