During a routine inspection

We used informal observation throughout our inspection visit conducted 24 August 2011 and found staff members through interaction and care treat residents with respect, dignity and maintained their privacy. We observed several examples where different staff members on both the nursing and residential floors talked to residents using appropriate means of verbal and non verbal communication by utilising appropriate posture, eye contact and touch.

During the inspection visit we talked to relatives who said:

'[care] is fantastic'really good';

'Grandma likes to sit and have a laugh [with the staff]';

'[care] is marvellous'cant fault it' and 'staff are friendly and helpful'.

'My father has been in the Belmont now for a good few months, and I have to say that the care that I have witnessed has been excellent';

'all staff really friendly', '[Grandma] loves the staff';

'Marvellous! [home]', 'staff friendly and helpful'.

'Absolutely fantastic! [home]';

'staff are always friendly, cheerful, helpful, and extremely hard working and you can see that they genuinely care about the residents';

'I can't single out one member of staff who excels above the rest as they all stand out on their own merits'.
