Date of assessment: 25 February – 15 April 2026. London Homework: Wandsworth is a homecare agency mainly supporting older people with physical disabilities with some people living with dementia as well as those with learning disabilities. At the time of our assessment there were six people using the service. This was our first assessment of this service.
We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
People were supported to receive safe, person-centred care that reflected their assessed needs and preferences. People told us they felt safe using the service, and safeguarding and whistleblowing systems were clearly understood by staff. Risks to people’s health, safety and wellbeing were well assessed, with management plans in place to mitigate identified risks, including environmental, infection prevention and medicines-related risks. Staff demonstrated a good understanding of incident reporting, safeguarding procedures and consent, and people’s liberty and rights were respected.
There were enough suitably skilled and trained staff to meet people’s needs. Recruitment, induction, supervision and training arrangements were effective, and staff felt supported in their roles. Care planning was detailed and personalised, supporting people’s dignity, independence, choice and control. The provider worked with relevant professionals and agencies to support people’s health outcomes and continuity of care. Leaders promoted a positive, open culture with clear governance, learning and quality monitoring arrangements in place. The culture was one of supportive leadership, continuous learning and a strong focus on people’s experiences and outcomes.
