During a routine inspection

We arranged to inspect the service on 03 March 2014. On the morning of the inspection the provider informed us 'unfortunately we will be liquidating Care Contacts Ltd imminently due to insolvency.' We did speak with people using the service, care workers and a local authority commissioner. We also met with the provider on 02 April to review staff records and quality assurance systems.

We spoke with four people using the service. People told us they were happy with the care and support they received from the agency. Their comments included 'it's working out brilliantly for me so far' and 'I can't fault them. I was anxious at first but I'm so glad now.'

We spoke with two care workers. They told us they had received training to carry out their work and demonstrated a good knowledge of how to care and support people safely.

We spoke with a local authority officer from the council responsible for funding most of the agency's clients. They told us they were aware of the financial situation and were working with the provider to ensure continuity of care.

The provider carried out checks on new staff and had systems in place to monitor the quality of services provided.

During a routine inspection

People were asked for their views on how they wished their care to be provided and this was documented in their care plan.

There were systems in place to protected people from the risk of abuse and people who use the service were provided with a complaints procedure.

Staff were receiving the training and supervision they needed to enable them to work compentantly.

The provider sent out questionnaires to people annually to ascertain their views on the staff and the service provided. Overall, people were happy with the service they were receiving.
