Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 29th June 2026 to 2nd July 2026.

Satash Community Care Project (Satash) is registered to provide care and support for up to 8 people. The service provides specialist care for people with a learning disability. There were 8 people living at the service at the time of our inspection.

We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people had respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

At our previous assessment, we identified a breach of Regulation 18 (Registration Regulations 2009 Notifications of other incidents), Regulation 17 HSCA RA Regulations 2014 (Good governance), and Regulation 19 HSCA RA Regulations 2014 (Fit and proper persons employed). However, during this assessment, we found the provider had taken effective action to address these concerns. Governance systems had been strengthened, regulatory responsibilities were understood, and the previous breaches had been fully rectified.

People consistently experienced safe, exceptionally caring and highly effective support that promoted positive outcomes and enhanced their quality of life. Robust systems, skilled and compassionate staff, and a proactive approach to risk management protected people from avoidable harm while enabling them to live fulfilling lives. Care was personalised, evidence-based and regularly reviewed to ensure people’s changing needs were met. Staff worked seamlessly with healthcare professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes for people, and medicines were managed safely. People were treated with kindness, dignity and respect, supported to maintain important relationships and encouraged to pursue meaningful opportunities within their community. Strong governance and a culture of continuous learning underpinned the service, while the registered manager and provider demonstrated an unwavering commitment to delivering, person-centred care.

People's experience of this service

People were supported by an exceptionally caring and compassionate staff team who were committed to helping them live meaningful and fulfilling lives. The culture throughout the service was warm, inclusive and person-centred, with staff consistently placing people’s wishes, aspirations and wellbeing at the heart of the support they provided. Positive risk-taking was embraced, enabling people to enjoy new experiences, develop their independence and achieve outcomes that mattered to them in a safe and supportive way.

Staff knew people exceptionally well and understood their health and social care needs. Where people were unable to communicate verbally, we observed staff responding sensitively to non-verbal communication, building trusting relationships and promoting people’s comfort and wellbeing.

Relatives consistently described the service as caring and safe. Comments included, "Satash is a safe place to be”, “I’ve never got any worries", and "A really homely feel. You are welcomed. They always welcome you with a smile.” People clearly felt valued and at home. One person told us, “I enjoy this being my home.” Another person said, "I like it here." The caring and person-centred culture gave relatives confidence and peace of mind, while enabling people to feel safe, respected, happy and genuinely at home.
