During an inspection looking at part of the service

We did not speak with the people who used the service during this inspection. The purpose of this inspection was to check the improvements made following our last inspection of 27 September 2012.

We spoke with the registered manager and two staff members. We looked at documentation including the care records of two people who used the service and the records of health and safety checks. We found that improvements were made.

People told us that the staff treated them with respect. One person said "They are very good to me." Another person said "The carers are all kind."

During our visit we spoke with six people that lived at the home. One person told us 'the nurses are very attentive, they listen to me'.

The people spoken with told us that the food that they were provided with was good, that they were always provided with a choice of meals and that they were provided with plenty of drinks. One person said the 'food is really nice, I didn't realise how hungry I was. Really nice fish pie I ate the lot' and another person said 'the food is excellent here'. A person that we spoke with laughed and said 'I'm just trying to find the fish in the fish pie'. They told us that they had a large appetite and that they were always provided with enough to eat.

People that were spoken with told us that the home was always clean, tidy and was warm enough. Two people told us that they liked their bedrooms and that they could bring in their personal possessions to make them more homely.
