During a routine inspection

People who use the service told us that staff met their needs, supported them to make their own decisions and take responsibility for their actions. They were treated with respect and were happy living at Portishead House. Two people expressed a wish to move on and alternative placements were being considered. People felt safe, protected and chose to do what they wanted, when they wanted to do it. They told us that there is a cooking rota that people participate in with staff support and weekly meeting that is an opportunity to discuss all aspects of living at Portishead House. People are also responsible for keeping their rooms tidy. They told us that they are involved in planning their care, are at different stages of self-medication in preparation for returning to community living and have signed their licence agreements and care plans. If they wished to make a complaint they knew the process to follow. When they had complained in the past, their complaints had been listened to, investigated and acted upon. They also told us they had access to their records.
