Care workers told us that they felt that they were trained and supported to meet the needs of the people who used the service. This was confirmed in the care worker records that we saw.

We looked at the care records of nine people who used the service and found that people experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights. People's health, safety and welfare was protected when more than one provider was involved in their care and treatment, or when they moved between different services. This was because the provider worked in co-operation with others. People were protected from the risks of unsafe or inappropriate care because accurate and appropriate records were maintained.

We found that the provider had systems in place to assess and monitor the service that people received. Infection control procedures were in place to ensure that people were protected from the risks of cross infection.

People told us that they were consulted about the care they were provided with. One person said, 'We worked out the care that I need between us (the service and the person).' Another person said, 'They (care workers) always ask me what I need." People's relatives confirmed this. One person's relative said, 'They visited us before they started to come in and we talked for a long time about what my (relative) needs and wants.' Another person's relative said, 'Yes, we were consulted, in depth actually.'

People told us that the care workers treated them with respect. One person said, 'I get carers that I know and we get on really well.' Another person said, 'Yes they (care workers) are very respectful and I always know who is coming.' One person's relative said, 'They (relative and care worker) have bonded and they have a laugh and a joke.'
