During a routine inspection

On arrival at the service we found that the service was dormant in relation to its registration for the provision of domiciliary care. This meant that the service was not currently providing personal care to anyone in their own home. However it continued to provide, other services for which it was registered separately. The service did not wish to cancel its registration for the regulated activity 'personal care' as it intended to provide this in the future. Several people had received domiciliary care up until quite recently but had since been assessed as needing residential care. We looked at their records to see how the service had met their needs.

As there was no one receiving domiciliary care we did not speak with people about their experiences. However we saw evidence of how the service engaged and consulted with people using the service about their care and support needs and the development of the service.

We saw the service had systems in place to safeguard people using the service and responded appropriately to any allegation of abuse.

We looked at staff training and induction but were unable to see individual staffing records as they were kept in another office. We were therefore unable to see if the provider was fully compliant with this regulation.
