During a routine inspection

MCCH Society Limited located at 85 Heath Road had three rooms for people with disability. The service had one vacant room and two people who lived in the home at the time of our inspection visit. We saw that people were supported on an individual basis with their day-to-day activities such as personal care, medication, eating and drinking.

People expressed their views and were involved in making decisions about their care and treatment. One person told us they were supported to make choices on how they wanted their room to be. The person said "Staff helped me to choose the colour I wanted my room painted and I like it because it's my colour".

People received the care and support they required to improve their health and well-being.

Risk assessments and care records were written in detail and provided clear guidance to staff members, and evaluations of care plans were completed.

There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. Communal and domestic areas of the home looked clean and hygienic.

There were effective recruitment and selection processes in place and appropriate checks were undertaken before staff began work.

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received.

People were made aware of the complaints system. People were made aware of the complaints system. This was provided in a format that met their needs.

People we spoke with were happy in their home and felt involved in decisions which concerned them. People felt safe with the staff who supported them. One person we spoke with said, "The staff are alright, they help us with things. X is my favourite; she looks after us the best". Another person said, "The monthly meetings are good, I have been to Camber Sands, Hastings and Margate now".

We found that people were supported in a way that respected their independence and ensured their welfare.

Staff were trained and supervised properly and were confident to administer medication when necessary.

We found that the service had systems in place to monitor the quality of the support and care that was provided and improvements were made following suggestions that people put forward.

During a routine inspection

There were three people living in the home at the time of our visit. We spent time with all three people; they all told us they liked living in the home, they said they liked the staff and were able to choose what they wanted to do. They said the food was good and they enjoyed preparing meals. We found people were content and their needs were met. People's privacy and dignity was respected and their independence promoted; they were supported to make choices and protected from harm.
