During a routine inspection

When we visited people who use the service and they told us they like the service which is provided by Care Connect Home Services. They told us staff were very good to them. One person said, 'I commended the care workers I have and like having them on a regular basis.'

Staff told us they think how they would like to be treated, and promote this within their work.

People told us they were able to give consent to the care and treatment given; staff also said they gain consent before they give care.

People who use the service told us they are prompted by the care workers to take their medication, which is in special packs so they know the correct dosage to take. Some people told us they self medicate if they are able to.

People told us they felt very safe with the care workers and two family members said they are able to go out knowing their relative is in safe hands.

People who use the service told us there were occasions where staff had been inefficient and another person had to be requested to attend to them.

One person said, 'When the bad weather was here there were odd occasions when staff did not turn up, however the service did let me know what was happening.' Another person said, 'There were problems when staff had been absent but someone does come eventually.' The service puts a contingency plan in to practice when unforeseen circumstances like this one arise.
