During a routine inspection

This domiciliary care service specialises in supporting people with a learning disability, staff are known as support workers.

All the people using the service spoken with told of their confidence in the support workers provided. They found that staff were skilled, they had regular staff that knew their strengths and helped them with tasks they found difficult, such as budgeting, shopping and taking their medicines.

A person told us of their progress since receiving a service from this agency. They said staff were patient, over a period of time with the encouragement and support of staff they were able to travel independently in the community.

People trusted their support workers and felt safe with them. One person said, "I have lovely staff to help me, they are caring and supportive".

We saw that people were happy with the quality of care and support they received. One person was unable to speak but showed us photographs of staff supporting them at weekly horse riding classes.

During a routine inspection

We visited one supported living service on 16 December 2011 at the kind invitation of the people living there. People we spoke to told us that they liked their support workers. We observed people using the service being treated with warmth and respect. The atmosphere was relaxed and people were provided with a sense belonging and inclusion. People's skills were developed and their achievements were celebrated. People using the service told us about how they were being supported to take part in a range of daily living, social, recreational, educational and volunteering activities.
