During a routine inspection

We spoke with people who use the service and they told us that were very happy with the service. People told us that staff 'Look after me very well', that 'The staff are always happy' and that 'The food was very good'. One person told us 'I can't think of anything I would like to change' when asked about their views on the service.

We saw that staff were supported by the provider through regular training and that staff were encouraged in their professional development. We also observed the home had suitable systems to monitor the quality of the service provided and to assess and manage risks to the health, safety and welfare of people using the service and others.

During an inspection looking at part of the service

This inspection was carried out to follow up on one compliance and one improvement action issued at the previous inspection.

People spoken with during this visit all said that they were happy with the care that they received and the staff who supported them.

People said that they were able to please themselves about how they spent their time and continued to make decisions about their day to day lives.

At the last inspection we found that people were not fully consulted on how often they were checked by staff during the night. At this visit people told us that they were able to refuse night checks if they wished to but most said that they found it comforting to know that staff were around overnight.

One person said 'I like to be checked at night because I like to know they are there' another person said 'If you have a light on at night they always come to make sure you are alright. Sometimes, if I can't sleep they just sit with me a while, that's nice.'
