During a routine inspection

We saw ongoing records and care assessments used by both LHNT and district nursing teams. These records were detailed and showed that people's wishes had been acted on and the care established around their needs.

Comments from the organisations feedback indicated that families or people who received a service were positive and appreciative of the support. One person's comments 'I found the LHNT a fantastic service'. Another person's relative commented 'we couldn't have been more pleased with the care and support we received as a family'.

Partnership organisations we spoke with told us of the importance of working with LHNT. One district nursing team told us that 'the only expectation is that there is a detailed handover' and 'we are most privileged, you couldn't get a better service anywhere' and 'we really wouldn't be without them'.

We looked at medication records for people who received a service from LHNT. Where members of staff provided medication this was clearly documented, stating the time and dosage of medication.

Staff received appropriate professional development. Staff we spoke with felt that they were supported by the provider and had access to training, team meetings and a supervision and appraisal programme.

Daily notes were completed consistently and contained comprehensive details personalised to the person who received a service. Records we looked at provided clear information on the persons wishes.

During a routine inspection

Due to the nature of the care, support and treatment provided it was not appropriate for us to contact people who used the service directly. We had permission to use feedback obtained by the provider as part of their quality assurance system. The following are some of the comments we read:

'thank you for organising the wonderful help and care"

' saw our need and provided a solution'

'... died peacefully at home as he wanted'

'The coordination , organisation and passing of information between doctors, district nurses and the Lawrence Home Nursing Team was excellent'

'Thank you for' the professional way in which you took time to explain things to my mother, sister and me'

At the time of the inspection the Lawrence Home Nursing Team (LHNT) were supporting four people and their families.
