During an inspection looking at part of the service

Wisdom healthcare has provided care since November 2011. We spoke to one person receiving care and four relatives of people who use the service due to their limited communication skills. All of the relatives and the person we spoke to were happy with the service provided and were complementary about the staff. One relative said, "the staff are kind and incredibly patient." Another relative said,"they are nice girls,very friendly." People's plans of care and assessments have improved since the last inspection. The relatives and person we spoke to said that staff had explained their care records to them and always documented the care on a daily basis. The manager has implemented a quality monitoring system to continually review the quality of service delivered.

During a routine inspection

Wisdom Healthcare has provided domiciliary care since November 2011. We spoke to four relatives of people who use the service due to their limited communication skills. These relatives said staff were kind and respectful. However, most of the relatives spoken with said that they had concerns that staff were intermittently late and the knowledge and experience of carers varied considerably. We were told that some people receive care from up to eleven different carers. This means that people cannot be confident that staff know them well. Wisdom Healthcare are currently using another agency to source the majority of its staff as they had not recruited all the staff they need at the moment. We saw that currently there were no monitoring systems in place for the organisation to assure itself that the care provided was consistent and met people's needs in a way they prefer.
