During an assessment under our new approach

Date of assessment: 11 to 19 August 2026. The service is a domiciliary care agency (DCA) registered to provide personal care to people who may be living with dementia, sensory impairment and / or physical disability. The provider also had the service user band of learning disabilities and autism however they were not supporting anyone with these needs at the time of this assessment.

We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

People were supported with their personal care needs to enable them to live in their own homes and promote their independence. Not everyone who used the service received the regulated activity of personal care. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This relates to help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. At the time of the assessment the service supported 17 people with personal care. This assessment was completed due to the length of time since the last ratings inspection.

The service had developed a positive learning culture where opportunities were taken to learn and improve.

The service worked well with other professionals involved in people’s care to help ensure people were supported with safe systems of care. Risk assessments helped to ensure staff worked safely. Staff rotas were planned to ensure staff had enough time to support people and travel in-between calls.

Staff were supported with training and development to ensure they remained knowledgeable in people’s health needs and areas such as safeguarding and health and safety. Their competence in their job role was checked in such areas as infection prevention and control practices, medicines care and helping people to transfer safely.

Care plans and risk assessments covered people’s care needs comprehensively and had been developed with people’s involvement. Staff worked well together and the management team dealt with any issues quickly. Effective systems were in place to monitor and identify any changes in people’s care and involve relevant healthcare professionals as required.

The registered manager worked to provide a flexible service to people wherever possible. They looked to recruit staff who were caring and kind and would work well with the people using the service. They worked to support staff to ensure they were able to provide a good quality, personalised caring service.

The registered manager put people at the centre of their care to ensure their care was person centred. People’s views were gathered using a variety of methods, including regular surveys, reviews of care and everyday contact with people and their relatives.

The service had a clear aim on providing good quality, personalised care, and this was shared by the staff who worked at the service. A range of audits and checks helped to ensure the service was providing these aims. The service had developed positive working relationships with other professionals and were part of networks to support their on-going development and improvements. Staff were confident to speak up if anything was not right and they felt treated fairly.
