During an inspection looking at part of the service

We haven't spoken to many people using the service because the main aim of our visit was to check whether the provider was effectively monitoring the quality of service that was provided. We gathered evidence of people's experiences by talking to two people and reviewing the survey responses of people who used the service. We found that people were very positive about the quality of care that they received at the home.

People told us that their bedrooms were comfortable and that they contained everything that they needed. One person told us that their bedroom was, "small and beautiful". They said that they enjoyed looking at the view of the countryside from their bedroom window as it brought back happy memories for them.

During an inspection looking at part of the service

Relatives told us that as the care home was small they knew everyone who lived in the home very well.

Relatives said that the care staff provided personalised care and that they got involved with in activities with people, such as dancing to music.

People's comments in the home's quality assurance survey included:

"The activities are good. We have a dog".

"The girls are lovely people".

Relatives told us that although their relative received a good standard of care at the home, they were worried about their long term future as they had been informed that the home was up for lease.

During a routine inspection

People were very positive about the staff team and home manager. They gave them a lot of compliments. They told us that they knew them very well and that staff were very attentive. One person told us, "the staff are very caring. We have a new one too'she is very good". Another person said about the home manager, " she does a good job'. I know to go to her if I have problems".

Some people told us that they are taken out into the community by a relative. People who did not have anyone to take them out said that they did not go out at all, but that they would like to.

People who were able to respond, told us that they had noticed that there were no locks on the toilet and bedroom doors. They said that they accepted this as it had been like that since they had come to live at the home.

People said that sometimes in the afternoon staff play games with them.

People told us that they had a garden party last year which they enjoyed and that they would like to have a party again this summer.

People said that they enjoyed the food that they eat at the home. One person told us, "We have a good cook".

People told us that they had all the things that they needed in their bedroom.
