During a routine inspection

We spoke by telephone with four people who received care and with the relatives (main carers) of three other people who used the service. We also spoke with two people face to face; one in their own home, and one at the office. All those people provided only positive comments about the service. These comments included 'The carers are very good. They always listen to me.' And 'My carer is absolutely marvellous. They stay the correct time and they've never missed a visit.' One main carer told us 'While we were on holiday the manager went to see our relative then emailed us to reassure us. That was very helpful.'

People were consulted about their care and consent was routinely sought before care was provided.

People were getting effective, appropriate care when they needed it, and in line with what they were wanting.

People were supported to manage their own medication, however those needing extra support were provided with this in a safe, consistent way.

The service had a robust recruitment and selection process to ensure that only suitably vetted staff worked for the service.

The provider carried out regular checks to monitor how the service was operating and to ensure the service was running well.

During a routine inspection

We spoke to four people who use the service, who told us about their experiences. They told us 'it's an absolutely first rate service', 'the carers are second to none' and 'absolutely superb, I cannot praise them highly enough.' People told us that they held copies of their care plans and confirmed that they were always involved in any care planning with the agency.

We spoke with three of the agency's care staff and the manager. Staff told us that they 'loved their jobs,' enjoyed working for the agency, were well trained and supported by management, and thought that the agency provided a good service.
