All Inspections

17 July 2013

During a routine inspection

We found that one person had been using the service at Conyers House and their placement ended on the day of the inspection. We were not able to speak with them about their experience of using the service at Conyers House.

We found that although care plans were in place to support this person they had chosen to spend increasing amounts of time away from Conyers House and their placement had ended. Review of records available showed us that care plans and risk assessments were in place and these showed us that staff had involved the person in planning their care and support.

We found that robust quality assurance checks were not in place and checks on records were not being carried out.

During a check to make sure that the improvements required had been made

We found that the provider had taken appropriate actions to address the shortfalls in service identified at our last inspection.

We found that the people who were using the service had been consulted about the meals they wanted to eat and the menus had been changed to include their requests.

There was now a manager in post to support the staff and staff had received additional training about food hygiene. This makes meal preparation safer for all.

3 May 2012

During an inspection looking at part of the service

The two people using the service told us that they were satisfied with the service they had received. One person told us "It is good to have the security of this home to return to, staff check that I take my medicine, and are interested in what I do".

8 March 2012

During an inspection in response to concerns

There were two people living at Conyers House when we visited. We spoke with both people to find out their views of the service. One person told us that the service and the food had recently improved.

Stakeholders told us that they had concerns about the service and how staff recorded and reported serious incidents.

Overall we found that people living at Conyers House had not been provided with a safe service. Some of their care needs had not been met and risk areas had not been properly considered and reduced. There had been a period of management instability and change during which the provider has failed to ensure that essential standards relating to care and safety were achieved. This placed people who use the service, and staff and visitors at risk of harm.

25 January 2011

During a routine inspection

People had been given an opportunity to visit the service before making a decision to move in for a trial period and each had been given a 'Welcome Pack' of information about the services provided..

The people who use this service told us that they are fully involved in planning the type of care and support that they receive from staff. They find the key worker system helpful and have a degree of choice in which staff they work with.

People are satisfied with the home environment and their bedrooms and they said it is warm enough in cold weather.

People were satisfied with the meals and help to choose the menus with staff. People can cook for themselves and make snacks and drinks at any time.
