During a routine inspection

We spoke briefly with one of the two people who were living at West View. He said that he was supported well and staff were friendly and kind. He told us, "The staff are coming out with me to support me.' The other person was out with staff for the day.

People routinely made choices about friendships, holidays and activities and health issues. They were encouraged to make informed decisions and give valid consent to the care and support and any treatment they received. One person said he was happy at West View and enjoyed going out to different places.

Care records were informative and person centred. They showed the care the person needed and how they wanted this provided. We saw evidence that changes in health were noted, information acted upon and the advice of other professionals sought. Each person had their own individual activities plans. These showed that they were involved in a variety of activities.

The person we spoke with said staff were good and kind and that they felt safe at West View. Where there had been difficulties in relationships between people living in the home, staff had ensured that people were safe.

There were satisfactory numbers of staff to support people in the way they needed. Staff explained that staffing was flexible and it was increased when people wanted additional staff support. Staff regularly asked people how they felt about the support they provided.
