We carried out an announced comprehensive inspection at Gresley House on 5 July 2023 as part of our inspection programme. This was a first rated inspection for the service which was registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in January 2022.

At this inspection we found:

  • The provider organised and delivered services to meet patients’ needs.
  • The provider had systems and processes for managing risk.
  • Staff were aware of current evidence-based guidance. Staff had been trained to provide them with the skills and knowledge to deliver effective care and treatment.
  • Recruitment processes were appropriate and fit for purpose.
  • Staff were proud of the work they did and of the quality of service they provided.
  • There was a clear leadership structure and staff felt supported by management. The service sought feedback from staff and patients, which it acted on.

The areas where the provider should make improvements are:

  • Take action to train the service’s safeguarding children lead to the appropriate level as recommended in the safeguarding children and young people: roles and competencies for healthcare staff guidance.
  • Take action to review staff are following the service’s policy with regard to medical equipment checks.
