During a routine inspection

We spoke with four people receiving care and one person's relative, out of the existing 16 people having care provided, all who told us they were very happy with the care and support from staff and Care Connections. One person told us the care staff were 'excellent', 'the girls are very competent' and 'they knew their relative was in safe hands'. Two other people told us they 'can't fault the staff and care provided'.

We were told the care staff were punctual and kind and people said they felt able to raise any concerns with them, should they arise.

During a routine inspection

During June and July 2011, we spoke with five people who received a service from this agency or their family members. People made positive comments about the staff team and one person's family member told us that, 'All staff are of a good caliber.'

People told us they trusted the staff and felt that any concerns they raised about their care and support would be addressed.

The two people we spoke with about their care plans told us that these reflected the care and support they required and that the agency had consulted them about these. One person told us, 'They do what I want them to do. The three ladies all know exactly what I want. They are all excellent.'

We were told that staff showed them, their families and their homes respect and were mindful of people's privacy and dignity.

One person told us that some of the staff who support them had similar interests to them and they took part in these together.

People generally knew who was going to support them. They told us that staff arrived when expected and stayed the full amount of time. One person said, 'The staff are alright, I get on with all of them. They prompt me to do things and I can't fault anything.'

The families of two people who receive a service told us that they had repeatedly had incorrect invoices. One person told us it could be up to four weeks before their payment was banked. Another person said they had spoken to the agency manager about this and been told to ignore the invoice if it was incorrect.
