Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 8 April 2025

Date of Assessment: 16 April 2025. Greenways Rest Home is a service that can support up to 30 older people and people living with dementia. At the time of the assessment 29 people were living at the service. This assessment has been completed following the Care Quality Commission (CQC) new approach to assessment; Single Assessment Framework (SAF).

At our last assessment in October and November 2022 (published December 2022), the provider was in breach of legal regulation in relation to the management of risk and the management of medicines. We rated the service requires improvement. We found enough improvements had been made at this assessment. The provider was no longer in breach of this regulation and is rated good.

Some areas of the home neededsuch as chipped paintwork needed painting, to promote effective infection prevention. Staffing was provided by a consistent team of staff. They were effectively deployed to provide timely support to meet people’s physical and emotional support requirements. People received their medicines as prescribed. Staff received ongoing training suitable for their roles.

People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and promoted their dignity. One person told us they liked their bedroom door open, and staff shut it and the curtains when they offered them support. Staff treated people as individuals, encouraged their independence and supported their preferences. People were supported to maintain relationships with family and friends.

Staff were aware of their responsibilities to raise concerns with the safeguarding authorities if they felt people were at risk of harm or abuse. Information on safeguarding was available to people and those who were important to them, so they could raise concerns externally if they wished to do so.

The provider ensured people could access external health professionals if the need arose and information was appropriately provided to support continuity of care. People’s nutritional needs were assessed and monitored.

The provider had effective governance systems to manage the service. There was a schedule of audits to maintain people’s safety and drive improvement. Staff felt supported, able to raise concerns and said that they would be listened to. The provider told us, “Everything I do, I do to see quality. I do invest my time not just money.”
