During a routine inspection

During our visit we sat in the lounge and observed how staff worked with people. We saw that when people required assistance to mobilise staff always explained to them what was going to happen and the person's dignity was maintained. At lunchtime we saw that people were given a choice of where they wanted to eat their meal. One lady, who stayed in the lounge was unable to say what she preferred to eat so the cook brought her two different meals to choose from. We saw staff speaking kindly and dealing with people patiently. We also saw that people who used the service were comfortable asking staff to help them.

In the afternoon we saw the activities person asking what people wanted to do. Chair Aerobics was popular followed by a sing song.

Two people commented that all the staff were friendly and approachable and would always help them. A relative who told us she was kept up to date with any health problems. One person told us they were well cared for by the staff.
