Greenhurst Care is a small, family led domiciliary care service providing personal care and support to people living in their own homes, including older people and people living with dementia and other long term conditions. At the time of the assessment the agency were supporting 13 people with a regulated activity. The service had a strong local presence and longstanding relationships with people, relatives and health and social care professionals.
People consistently experienced exceptionally high-quality, person-centred care and told us they felt safe, valued and respected. Risks were proactively managed through detailed, personalised care planning and strong partnership working, enabling early intervention and avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions. Medicines were managed safely and robust governance systems ensured incidents were reviewed and used for learning.
People and relatives provided highly positive feedback, consistently describing staff as kind, compassionate and respectful. There was a strong, embedded culture of dignity, with people supported to maintain independence, make choices and remain connected to their communities. Staff knew people well and adapted care to meet their changing needs, including communication and sensory requirements.
The service was supported by a stable, well-trained and motivated staff team. Staffing arrangements promoted continuity and allowed time to deliver unrushed, meaningful care. Staff felt valued and supported through regular supervision, training and an open culture. Recruitment processes were robust, ensuring staff shared the service’s values and high standards.
Leadership was visible, compassionate and highly effective. Leaders were directly involved in care delivery and demonstrated a strong commitment to continuous improvement, innovation and partnership working. Feedback from people, relatives and professionals was consistently positive. There were no breaches of regulations or enforcement actions. Overall, the service demonstrated a culture of person-centred care, where high standards were consistently achieved through strong leadership and a commitment to outstanding outcomes.

People and relatives consistently described an exceptionally positive experience of care and support from Greenhurst Care. People told us they felt genuinely cared for, respected and treated as individuals. One person said, “Everyone is really chatty, friendly, polite and respectful. I have no complaints at all.” Comments from relatives included,” Really nice, friendly, reliable, very capable, trustworthy” and “Exceptional staff - friendly, cheerful helpful and willing.” There was a strong sense of trust in both staff and leadership, with people and relatives expressing confidence that care was reliable, compassionate and responsive. People said staff took time to understand what mattered to them and adapted support to meet their individual needs, including communication, sensory needs and personal preferences. One person told us staff were “very patient” and always introduced themselves as they could not see who had arrived. They explained they were supported to make choices about their care and felt listened to, saying, “I am supported how I would like to be supported.” People consistently described staff as friendly, calm and respectful, and spoke warmly about the continuity of carers, which helped them feel comfortable and at ease. Relatives echoed these views and told us care was highly person‑centred and delivered by a stable, well‑known team. They said staff knew people extremely well and understood their histories, routines and preferences. One relative told us the service felt like “a trusted friend” and another described the care as being delivered, “as if they were a member of their own family.” People and relatives were clear that staff always respected privacy and dignity and sought consent before providing care. People and relatives told us staff were proactive in supporting health and wellbeing. They gave examples of staff identifying early signs of pressure damage or infection, supporting with medicines, and liaising promptly with health professionals. Relatives described staff going above and beyond, including responding flexibly to emergencies, sourcing equipment, collecting prescriptions and providing additional welfare support when needed. People and relatives said they were actively encouraged to share their views through regular conversations, reviews and quality assurance questionnaires, and felt confident that feedback led to action. Overall, feedback reflected a calm, caring and exceptionally responsive service, where people felt safe, valued and consistently experienced high‑quality, compassionate care.
Health and social care professionals spoke highly of the quality of care provided by Greenhurst Care. They described staff as not only meeting people’s physical needs, but also offering genuine compassion, comfort and emotional support, qualities they felt came naturally to carers rather than being taught. Professionals reported that people consistently expressed appreciation for the support they received and highlighted the positive impact of strong leadership and management, noting that managers communicated effectively and listened carefully to people’s wishes and preferences. Feedback described staff as professional, friendly, reliable and kind during joint working opportunities and home visits. Professionals also commended Greenhurst Care’s proactive approach to advanced care planning, ensuring people had ReSPECT plans in place and notifying healthcare services when these were absent. This was viewed as excellent practice, helping to ensure people’s future wishes and decisions were clearly documented and respected. Overall, professionals spoke positively about the service, recognising its role in enabling people to remain safely and independently in their own homes while receiving high-quality, person-centred support.
