All Inspections

During a routine inspection

We used a number of different methods to help us understand the experience of people using the service, because the people using the service were unable to verbally communicate and were not able to tell us about their experience.

There were two people living at the home at the time of our inspection. During our visit we spoke with the three members of staff on duty, one health and social care professional and the nominated individual.

We saw that people's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan. A health and social care professional told us that "communication with service users is great and their individual needs are attended to".

We spoke to staff and reviewed records which showed us that people were protected from abuse and that their care was planned and delivered in a respectful and safe way.

This included appropriate arrangements to manage people's medicines safely.

Staff we spoke to and records we reviewed, demonstrated that staff were suitably experienced and skilled to support people living in the home. A staff member told us "there is a really nice friendly atmosphere here - residents are happy".

Although we saw that people's health and welfare was promoted and monitored, we found that the provider did not have an effective system for monitoring and assessing the quality of the service which regularly took into account the view of people and their representatives.

During a routine inspection

Due to people's communication needs we were not able to speak to any people during the visit. We did, however, speak to the relatives of two people and to a health and social care professional.

Relatives told us how satisfied they have been with the standard of care provided. One relative said, 'The standard of care is immaculate.' We were also told there are a range of activities for people including the use of community facilities, music and art sessions. Choice was said to be available in how people spend their time.

Relatives said the home is a safe place and said that the staff have a caring attitude. Comment was made that there are enough staff to meet people's needs.

Relatives said that they attend care reviews and that they can discuss any issues with the home's staff and manager. It was also confirmed that relatives receive a survey asking them to give their views on the home.
