Equity in experiences and outcomes
The provider had not always actively considered the needs of people who were most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes.
An electronic care system had been introduced since our last assessment. Whilst we saw this had benefits in improving the oversight and quality of care records, the provider had not fully considered and consulted people about how they would prefer access to their care records. One person told us they were “Not able to start learning new technology and [because] the care plan was on the app, and they didn’t know how to use it they weren’t able to access it.”
The provider was not always proactive in seeking feedback from people using the service. This meant some people who had barriers in raising issues did not always have the opportunity to do so. For example, during the assessment some people raised concerns regarding the consistency of care. We identified they would benefit from a more timely review of their care needs. We spoke with the registered manager about this and they said they would arrange care reviews with everyone who used the service as an immediate priority.
The registered manager told us care was always planned in consultation with people and reasonable adjustments were made to ensure individual needs were met. For example, they had recently supported a person to source specialist equipment and make adaptions to their home as it was their desire to remain living there.
Planning for the future
We did not look at Planning for the future during this assessment. The score for this quality statement is based on the previous rating for Responsive.
