Independence, choice and control
The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing.
People told us staff supported them to make decisions about their day-to-day lives and respected their choices. Staff gave examples where they had supported people to retain independence and control over their lives, such as accessing the local community and maintaining relationships with people who were important to them.
Care plans promoted people’s independence, choice and control. There was a strong emphasis on assessing what people could do for themselves and how staff could maintain and encourage people’s confidence in doing these tasks. Where support was required, personalised care plans were developed which detailed how each person preferred their care to be delivered.
