During an inspection looking at part of the service

People we spoke with reported that they were happy living at Laburnum Lodge and that there were staff available when they needed. One person who uses the service commented, 'The helpers come and see to you quite quickly'. Another person told us that the home was much friendlier than her previous one and that she had particularly enjoyed a party that was held on one person's return from hospital. However, one person told us that some staff were not particularly friendly.

During a routine inspection

We received positive comments about the staff at Laburnum Lodge, including: 'The staff are friendly and do anything for mum', and: 'The girls are good, staff couldn't be better'. People appreciated the consistency of care staff and, in particular, the caring attitude of the acting manager. People also enjoyed their meals and one person commented on the greater choice of food now available. However, some people had concerns about the shabby exterior of the home, bad smells in the dining area and a lack of leadership in the home.
