During an inspection looking at part of the service

One person told us she had enjoyed her stay (respite) but she was looking forward to going home. Another said 'everyone's been so marvellous and I don't know how to say thank you'.

17 June 2011

During an inspection in response to concerns

We saw that people were offered a choice of drink and biscuits during the morning. One person commented 'that was a nice cup of tea'. Some gentle music was put on to play, which several people were enjoying and tapping their feet to. A couple of people sang a line or two. The television had been left on and set to mute whilst the music was playing in the lounge. It was switched off by the manager when she came to the lounge. We noticed that there were no magazines, books or items that people could pick up and look at in the lounge. A couple of people went off to do an activity and came back just before lunchtime. We saw one person knitting.

We observed little interaction between staff and people using the service in the lounge apart from when morning drinks were being served.
