Equity in experiences and outcomes

Score: 2

The staff team did not always actively listen to information about people who are most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes. This meant people’s care was not always tailored in response to this.

People were asked by staff on an individual basis to select their meals for the following day. We saw a staff member reading to people the choices being available but there wasn’t any additional help provided to support people’s understanding. As a result, we observed a person selecting the same meal for lunch and supper. Activities plan included various activities with pictures aimed to support people’s choices in relation to their leisure time, but the activities plan was not accessible to people on the day of our visit.

The home environment was suitable for people's physical needs. People’s mobility was supported, and they were able to move around freely.
