Date of assessment:26 June to 2 July 2025

Risby Park Nursing Home is a nursing home providing accommodation, nursing and personal care for up to 54 older people, some of whom living with dementia and/or have nursing needs.

Risby Park Nursing Home continued to provide outstanding caring practice to people, and their loved ones. People were treated with kindness, compassion and involved as partners in their care. Staff demonstrated empathy and understanding of people living with dementia. People were given privacy and treated with dignity.

Improvement was needed in the management, auditing and oversight of medicines.

A new electronic system for recording daily support provided to people was in need of improvement to ensure up to date, timely records were maintained.

Leaders demonstrated their commitment and openness to improvement and innovation. There was a proactive approach to partnership working to ensure people living in the service were safe and had opportunities to do things they enjoyed doing. We found people were receiving effective, person-centred care from a caring and compassionate staff team. We found staff were well-trained and felt supported in their role by leaders. We found the provider had established effective governance systems and processes to meet people’s needs safely, as well as to check the quality of care and continually make improvements.

Care plans were personalised, considering people’s communication, personal and health needs. Staff supported people in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests. Where people did not have the mental capacity to give consent to care and treatment, staff involved those important to people in making decisions in their best interests.

Activities were tailored to suit the needs of people, including one to one support to people cared for in bed and isolated in their rooms.

Staff and leaders used innovative technology, best practice guidance and evidence-based tools to meet people’s needs and ensure their comfort.
