During a routine inspection

The registered manager told us that the service had evidence based policies and procedures in place to support all the staff practices in obtaining written, verbal and informed consent.

People who used the service were assessed on entry, and detailed care plans were developed based on individual needs. In all the records we reviewed clear evidence was seen of the input from the multidisciplinary team. For example, nurses, medical staff, support staff and dieticians.

People were supported to be able to eat and drink sufficient amounts to meet their needs. Evidence was seen of individual needs being met by members of the multidisciplinary team.

People who used the service were protected against the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening. Five people that were spoken with told us that they felt safe being cared for by the experienced and professional staff.

There was a detailed complaints process that was accessible to all people who used the service. Clear evidence was seen that all complaints were fully investigated and appropriate action was taken when required.
