During an inspection looking at part of the service

The home was in administration and feedback from people living at Breton Court, relatives and staff was that this had not affected the quality of care people received.

People told us they had discussed their care and support with staff. Most people knew about their care plan and staff undertook care plan reviews with people and/or their relatives. Everyone was satisfied with the care and support received. People were able to make decisions and had control over their day to day lives. The management of people's medication was safe. People told us the staff were kind and caring. Staff received regular training and supervision. The service undertook audits to ensure things ran smoothly and people were satisfied with their care.

During a routine inspection

The home was in administration and feedback from people living at Breton Court, relatives and staff was that this had not affected the quality of care people received.

People told us they had discussed their care and support with staff although this was not always evidenced in their care plan. Most people did not know about their care plan and staff alone undertook care plan reviews instead of involving people and/or their relatives. Everyone was satisfied with the care and support received but some felt this could be even better with small improvements which could be discussed at reviews. Examples given were availability of fresh fruit and a bedtime routine. People were able to make decisions and had control over their day to day lives. People told us the food was very good and had a choice menu with plenty of fresh vegetables and homemade cakes. The management of people's medication needed some improvements to ensure systems were completely safe for people. People's accommodation was all on one level and well maintained with a warm, comfortable and homely feel. People confirmed the home was always clean and tidy. The staff team was stable. People told us the staff were all very kind and caring. Staff were recruited in a safe way and people confirmed there was always sufficient staff was on duty to meet their needs. Staff had received training but there were some training shortfalls which needed to be addressed to ensure people get the best care possible. The service did some checks to ensure things ran smoothly and people were satisfied with their care but an overall monitoring system against the regulations they are required to meet was missing. People felt confident to raise concerns but did not have any. Records were stored appropriately and safely.
