During an assessment under our new approach
Date of assessment 11 December 2025. Manor Lodge (Oval Care Homes Ltd) is a care home for people who require nursing or personal care. At this assessment the home was supporting 3 people who lived in the home and 1 person who received respite care.
We have undertaken a comprehensive assessment which means we have reviewed 33 quality statements. At our last assessment we rated this service as requires improvement. At this assessment we have rated it as good.
Care plans were detailed with a history of each person’s life which gave a picture of the lives they had led. Care plans contained information that meant staff were able to deliver the right support. Risks to people, particularly those associated with caring for older people were well documented, highlighting the risks and the actions staff should take to mitigate them.
There were enough experienced, trained staff on duty who understood the needs of people they supported. There was a calmness throughout the day of our visit and staff were not rushed which meant people received support at their own pace.
The home was clean and odour free. It was tastefully decorated and had a feeling of it being a person’s home rather than a care home. People’s rooms were well maintained with their possessions including pictures and items of their own furniture giving them a sense of ownership and belonging.
The home was well managed with an experienced registered manager supported by an experienced deputy manager. Staff were caring and attentive to people’s needs and there were noticeably warm, respectful interactions between the staff and the people receiving care. Staff told us they were happy working in the service, and they felt they received the right support and training to be able to do their jobs.
The feedback we received from people using the service, their advocates and professionals was positive about all aspects of the care the service provided.
