During a routine inspection

People who use the service were unable to communicate and tell us what they thought of the quality of the care due to their communication difficulties. Through observation however during the site visit we were able to observe staff supporting people who use the service in a respectful way and that staff took time to explain where possible the options available and involved them in many activities.

We visited the service just before it started to get dark and noted that all the ceiling light fittings were broken. Later as darkness approached we saw that this made the environment very low in light. Small lamps were found lighting darker areas of the service. Kitchen appliances were either missing or broken. Exposed wires were evident within one broken ceiling light along with a broken fan in the dining room.

Hazards were found within the garden with broken storage units rubbish and garden equipment spades / electrical equipment not suitably stored in that it was accessible to a vulnerable adult. Broken plugged in 240v mains Christmas decorations also posed an additional risk within one of the rooms.
