Accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care
Condition of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity
The Registered Person must not admit new service users without the prior written agreement of Care Quality Commission. This also includes taking on new admissions where a service user has temporarily left the service to have in-patient medical treatment, returning from hospital or has previously received care from Ascot House.
The registered person must take action to ensure that scalding risks from showers are appropriately mitigated. This includes:
1) Remedial works being undertaken to ensure that water temperatures in all showers are controlled at safe maximum levels.
2) Taking action to ensure that showers affected with high temperatures will not be used in the interim
3) The updating of policies and processes to ensure safe temperatures are recorded and monitored going forward.
Within two working days of this notice, the registered person must have completed an action plan with the above 3 actions and send a copy to the Commission. This must detail what action has been taken and what action will be taken – and by when.
The registered person must arrange for staff training in nephrostomy/catheter care. Evidence of who is providing this training, contents of the training and when it will be completed by, must be sent to the commission within two working days of this notice. If the registered person chooses to use Staff Member 1 for this training, a risk assessment for this decision must also be sent to the Commission along with the information detailed above.
The registered person must create an action plan for improving the safety of nephrostomy and catheter care. This action plan should include:
1) Improving guidance for care staff
2) Improving the recording of care given
3) and how the registered person will oversee the effectiveness of 1 and 2.
This action plan must be shared with the Commission within two working days of this notice.
The registered person must review all service users at Ascot House to assess their safety in the environment. This review should consider safety on the stairs and when using ramps around the home. As a result of this review, the provider must create an action plan. This action plan should include:
1) Which service users have been reviewed and the findings.
2) What action is planned to be taken for each of these service users and when this action will be taken.
A copy of this action plan must be sent to the commission within two working days of this notice.
Terms of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity
The Registered Provider must not provide nursing care under accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care at Ascot House - Nottingham.
The Registered Provider must only accommodate a maximum of 20 service users at Ascot House - Nottingham.
