Requires improvement

Updated 14 October 2025

Date of Assessment: 21 October to 28 October 2025.

The service is a residential home providing support to people with a learning disability and autistic people. At the time of the inspection 3 people were living at Rendle House. We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

The provider was previously in breach of regulations in relation to person centred care, safe care, staffing and management of the service. Some improvements were found at this inspection and the provider was no longer in breach of the regulations relating to person-centred care, safe care and staffing. We identified a repeated breach relating to the management of the service.

We found records had either not been completed or lacked detail. When people lacked capacity to make specific decisions mental capacity assessments had not always been completed. Risk assessments had not always been developed to guide staff.

We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.

This service has been in Special Measures since 23 February 2023. The provider demonstrated improvements that have been made. The service is no longer rated as inadequate overall or in any of the key questions. Therefore, this service is no longer in Special Measures.

People's experience of the service

Updated 14 October 2025

People living at Rendle House were not able to tell us in detail about their experience of living at the service. As well as speaking with people we observed how people spent their time and their interactions with each other and staff. We looked at daily records, incident reports and other records to gather evidence about people’s experiences.

People were involved in day-to-day decisions, choosing how and where they spent their time. People were looking forward to going out and visiting the people or places they were familiar with.

Relatives were positive about the support people received. Comments included, “I am very happy with the care and support [Name] receives. They always have a happy smile on their face, that tells me everything I need to know” and “Yes, I am happy with the care and support [Name] receives, they are always on the ball. They treat my loved one with respect and kindness”.
